When I was diagnosed with breast cancer twice between 2020 to 2024, doctor Bassin was there to answer questions and concerns every step of my journey . But, what made her stand out was her compassion, a hug when I cried, and always reassuring me I was in good hands. Dr. Bassin is also very knowledgeable and precise in her plan for removing cancer, and ensuring patients have the best possible care with her panel of doctors. She is truly amazing.

I had an excellent experience at Dr. Bassin's office. I felt very comfortable as soon as I walked in the door. Dr. Bassin and staff were helpful, friendly, and informative.

Dr. Leah Bassin is a breast surgeon with the Hartford HealthCare Cancer Institute Breast Program. Clinically, her interests are breast health and wellness, high-risk breast disease, breast preservation surgery, oncoplastic breast surgery, breast cancer surgery and diagnostic ultrasound and ultrasound-guided biopsy.

After finishing her undergraduate degree at The George Washington University, Dr. Bassin earned a medical degree at Ross University School of Medicine. She completed an internship and residency in general surgery at The Stamford Hospital/Columbia University, and a fellowship in breast surgery at Beth Israel Medical Center/St. Luke’s Roosevelt.

Dr. Bassin is board-certified in general surgery by the American Board of Surgery. She is a member of the American College of Surgeons and the American Society of Breast Surgeons.
